PhD in Population Medicine: Climatic Hazards and Companion Animal Health

PhD opportunity in Population Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. This opening is for a 3-year PhD in the Department of Population Medicine within the Applied Epidemiological Research Laboratory (AEROH) , supervised by Dr. Katie Clow . The project focuses on companion animal health impacts associated with climatic hazards , with an emphasis on dogs, cats, and horses and the effects of climate change-related events such as heat extremes, droughts, floods, wildfires, tropical cyclones, and related environmental stressors. The research topic will be co-created by the advisor and the successful candidate, allowing the project to align with the student’s background and professional goals. The student will build expertise in climate change science , companion animal population health , veterinary epidemiology , and advanced epidemiological methods . Eligibility: Applicants should have a strong background in animal health and epidemiology. Required qualifications include an MSc in Epidemiology or a related field and/or a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine . Applicants must also meet the academic standards for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Guelph. Domestic, permanent resident, and international applicants are eligible. Funding: The position offers a $25,000 per annum stipend for three years , plus any scholarships secured by the candidate.
