MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship in Membrane Protrusion Networks, Tissue Morphogenesis, and Homeostasis at University of Tartu
The University of Tartu, a leading institution in Estonia and Northern Europe, is offering a postdoctoral position funded by the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship programme. The position is based in the Developmental Biology Research Group at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology. The research focuses on membrane protrusion networks in tissue morphogenesis and homeostasis, with a particular emphasis on cell-cell communication and three-dimensional tissue architecture.
The group uses the developing wing of Drosophila melanogaster as a model to study morphogenetic events, including migration, adhesion, cytoskeletal rearrangements, proliferation, and deformation. The project aims to elucidate the dynamics of the Interplanar Amida Network (IPAN) and tunnelling nanotube (TNT)-like structures, which are crucial for synchronising cell-cycle transitions and interplanar communication during morphogenesis. Advanced in vivo imaging and ex vivo models will be employed to investigate TNT dynamics, organelle trafficking, and transcriptional responses.
Applicants should have a PhD in developmental biology, cell biology, or related fields, with experience in molecular biology techniques and Drosophila models. The research has implications for understanding human developmental disorders and pathogenesis.
