The project is especially interested in how urban flows, land demands, and environmental risks evolve over time, and how historical, archaeological, palaeoenvironmental, and climatic datasets can be integrated with computational analysis.
The successful candidate will contribute to publications, data synthesis, and policy-relevant outputs, and will work within an international research environment combining archaeological, historical, anthropological, geochemical, and Earth-system expertise. Relevant academic keywords include urban studies, urban history, urban science, economic geography, complex systems science, network analysis, and supply chain analysis.
Eligibility highlights:
a PhD and Masters degree in Urban Science, Urban or Environmental History, Urban Studies, or a related field; strong experience with quantitative/computational methods; familiarity with urban networks, catchments, hinterlands, and archival/archaeological data; excellent communication and publication record; and willingness to collaborate, travel, and work in a structured way.
Funding and conditions:
full-time appointment for 3 years, with salary according to TVöD up to pay group 13 based on qualifications and experience. Benefits include annual bonus, 31 days' holiday, flexible and remote working, pension scheme, job ticket subsidy, and access to training plus language and health courses.
