NOVA Medical School at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa is advertising an international selection competition for the hiring of a PhD holder under Notice 23622/2026/2. The role is based in Lisbon, Portugal, and is embedded in the CHRC BASE project (UID/06291/2025), supporting scientific research activities with a strong focus on innovation, technology transfer, and the valorisation of health research outcomes.
The successful candidate will work on identifying and assessing technology-based innovations, research results, and specialised knowledge generated within the CHRC community. Core responsibilities include developing commercialisation and valorisation strategies, managing a portfolio of technologies and expertise, supporting intellectual property protection and maintenance, helping researchers prepare innovation funding applications, strengthening links with industry and other innovation stakeholders, and contributing to internal policies and reporting on technology transfer and impact indicators.
This opportunity is primarily suitable for experienced researchers or professionals with a PhD in Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Innovation Management, or related areas. The notice explicitly seeks candidates whose scientific and professional background demonstrates the ability to carry out these activities, particularly those with experience in strategic IP management, licensing and collaboration agreements, translational health innovation, proof-of-concept support, spin-off creation, and research-to-market pathways.
The position is located at Faculdade de Ciências Médicas | NOVA Medical School, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, Lisbon. The contract is a fixed-term employment arrangement under Portuguese labour law, linked to the CHRC BASE project and expected to run until 31 December 2026, with possible extension depending on funding entity decisions. The salary corresponds to TRU level 38 (2nd level of remuneration step 38 of the Single Remuneration Table).
