PhD fellowship in forest soil biogeochemistry , greenhouse gas fluxes , and environmental science at the University of Copenhagen , Section of Forest & Landscape Ecology, Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management (IGN). The project is part of “Predicting the climate change mitigation potential of new forest landscapes in Denmark” , funded by Independent Research Fund Denmark . It focuses on how tree species, soil types, and forest management affect soil emissions and uptake of N2O , CH4 , and CO2 in temperate forest ecosystems. You will work with existing unpublished datasets, field campaigns across Danish forests, laboratory mesocosm experiments, advanced gas flux measurements, stable isotope techniques, and statistical/data analysis. The research is linked to the Biogeochemistry research group at IGN and includes collaboration with Land-CRAFT at Aarhus University . Ideal candidates have a background in soil science , biogeochemistry , or environmental science , strong skills in R or similar programming languages, fieldwork experience, and fluent academic English. Experience with advanced greenhouse gas measurement equipment is an advantage. The position is a full-time PhD fellowship for up to 3 years under the regular PhD programme at the SCIENCE PhD School.
