PhD position in cancer chromatin biology

Applications are invited for a 100% 3-year PhD position in cancer chromatin and structural biology at the University of Oslo , in the Department of Molecular Medicine , Division of Biochemistry, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences. The project sits in the research group of Prof. Philippe Collas and the project group of Dr. Marie Rogne , within the Collas Lab environment. The position is funded through the Norwegian Research Council and involves collaboration with partners at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) . The broader research setting includes a dynamic biochemistry division working on cancer biology, chromatin and nuclear dynamics, nuclear architecture, membrane trafficking, and adipocyte, muscle and vascular biology. The project focus is to investigate the therapeutic potential of microproteins in advanced prostate cancer . The successful candidate will study how specific microproteins regulate the activity of the transcription factor SOX2 using cell-based assays and epigenomic assays , and will help resolve the SOX2 microprotein complex using a crystallographic approach . This is a research-intensive PhD suited to a candidate interested in chromatin regulation, cancer mechanisms, and structural biology. Eligibility notes indicate that applicants should hold a Master degree or equivalent in a relevant field. The post is advertised as a full-time, temporary PhD appointment. The application deadline is 25 October 2026 at 23:00 (Europe/Oslo) . Applications and additional information are available via the Jobbnorge link provided in the advert. Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Tumor Cell Biology

A 100% full-time, 3-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in tumor cell biology is available at the University of Oslo, in the Department of Molecular Medicine, Division of Biochemistry, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences. The post is part of the Collas Lab and is linked to the research group of Prof. Philippe Collas and the project group of Dr. Marie Rogne. The project focuses on advanced prostate cancer and aims to explore the therapeutic potential of microproteins. The successful candidate will investigate how specific microproteins regulate the activity of the transcription factor RUNX2. The work will be carried out using cancer cell lines and PDX mouse tumor models, with a strong emphasis on cell-based assays and in vivo experimental setups, and may require method optimization. The Division of Biochemistry is described as a dynamic research environment with nine groups working across cancer biology, chromatin and nuclear dynamics, nuclear architecture, membrane trafficking, and adipocyte, muscle, and vascular biology. The position therefore offers a strong interdisciplinary environment within basic medical sciences and cancer research. The position is funded through the Norwegian Cancer Society. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, and the role is classified as a postdoctoral research fellow position. The deadline is 4 November 2026 at 23:00 (Europe/Oslo). Applications and further instructions are available via the Jobbnorge link in the announcement.
