PhD Positions in Soft Active Matter Microrobots for Medicine (SAM3)

SAM3 (Soft Active Matter Microrobots for Medicine) is a Marie Curie Doctoral Network recruiting 12 PhD candidates across Europe, with two positions available at Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) . The project is coordinated by UMONS and focuses on soft active matter , microrobotics , and medical applications . Research topics include electromechanically responsive materials for tethered robotic and sensing functions, light-responsive materials, magnetic untethered microrobots, grayscale 3D printing for sensory-motor control, microrobotic catheters, real-time tracking of microrobots, anatomical phantoms, and design/synthesis/nanoscale characterization of materials for soft robotics. The network is interdisciplinary, combining materials science , robotics , engineering , and medicine , with exposure to clinical and industrial partners. Consortium partners include ULB, LENS (Italy), Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Italy), Université Marie et Louis Pasteur (France), Empa (Switzerland), and the University of Twente (the Netherlands), plus industrial and clinical stakeholders such as Erasme Hospital and Besançon University Hospital Centre. Funding is provided through the European Union Horizon Europe programme under Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks . The post does not list a deadline in the text provided. Interested candidates should consult the project page and the attached document for the ULB vacancies, then contact the project team at [email protected] for further details.
