Open call for two postdoctoral positions in NCN SONATA BIS 15 grant "Geometry and Topology of Non-Archimedean Manifolds"

The Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is advertising an open call for up to two postdoctoral positions in the NCN SONATA BIS 15 research project "Geometry and Topology of Non-Archimedean Manifolds" , led by Professor Piotr Achinger . The project sits at the intersection of algebraic geometry and algebraic topology , with a particular focus on non-archimedean geometry . Successful candidates will join a mathematically rigorous research environment and contribute to a theoretical project developing methods and results in this area. The call is aimed at highly qualified researchers at an early postdoctoral career stage. Eligibility and requirements: applicants must have a PhD in mathematics, or a related field, obtained not earlier than twelve years before the year of employment, subject to NCN rules on career breaks and parental leave. A strong background in algebraic geometry and/or algebraic topology is required. Experience in non-archimedean geometry or logarithmic geometry is an advantage, but not mandatory, as these skills may be developed within the project. Candidates should also demonstrate strong proof skills, the ability to work independently on difficult theoretical problems, and good English communication skills. Appointment details: the post is a full-time, temporary postdoctoral position based at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland . The call is for up to two positions . The planned starting date is 1 January 2027 . The application deadline is 15 December 2026 at 23:59 (Europe/Warsaw). How to apply: applications should be sent by email to [email protected] . Prospective applicants should consult the linked job details page for any further information.
