PhD Position: Understanding NK Cell Immunity to Develop Next-Generation Immunotherapies for Liver Cancer

PhD opportunity in cancer immunology at Institut Pasteur and Université Paris Cité in Paris, France. This project focuses on understanding how NK cell immunity can be harnessed to develop next-generation immunotherapies for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), one of the deadliest cancers worldwide. The research will investigate how Notch and TGFβ signaling pathways interact to regulate NK-cell biology in the immunosuppressive liver tumor microenvironment, with the goal of identifying new strategies to restore anti-tumor immunity. The PhD student will join the Innate Lymphoid Cell Development and Inflammation Laboratory led by Prof. Rachel Golub at Institut Pasteur, in collaboration with the laboratory of Prof. Valérie Paradis at Université Paris Cité / Hôpital Beaujon. The environment is highly interdisciplinary and combines immunology, cancer biology, bioengineering, and translational medicine. Training will include mouse models of liver cancer, spectral flow cytometry with >35-color panels, single-cell RNA sequencing, human precision-cut liver slices, and translational immunotherapy development. The project is well suited to a candidate interested in fundamental immunology with clear translational potential. Eligibility highlights include an MSc or equivalent in Immunology, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, or a related field; prior laboratory experience in molecular biology, immunology, or flow cytometry; strong English communication skills; and motivation to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting.
