Postdoctoral Researchers in Quantum Networks and Quantum Sensing with Thin-Film Lithium Niobate at ETH Zurich

ETH Zurich’s Optical Nanomaterial Group in the Department of Physics (D-PHYS) is recruiting two postdoctoral researchers for 3-year projects in quantum networks and quantum sensing using thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) photonic integrated circuits. The projects focus on advanced quantum photonics , including nanofabrication and optical characterization of TFLN circuits, frequency conversion, quantum light sources, electro-optic modulation, entangled photon-pair generation, squeezed vacuum generation, and experiments relevant to quantum communications and sensing. One position targets quantum networks , aiming to connect quantum memories operating at visible wavelengths with telecom-band photons for long-distance transmission. The other targets quantum sensing , including phase estimation and absorption measurements with undetected photons, with applications such as gas sensing. The sensing project is part of a QuantERA collaboration with Imperial College London, the University of Oxford, and ICFO. Applicants should have experience in integrated photonics , nonlinear optics , quantum photonics , quantum information , or spontaneous parametric down-conversion .
