Johannes Kepler University Linz is offering a PhD student position in the Department of Neurology within the interdisciplinary PROCEED project, Predicting Recovery of Consciousness via Evidence-based Evaluation and Diagnosis . The project is funded through the Upper Austrian Research Initiative for Personalized Technical Medicine (PTM) and brings together expertise from clinical neurology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and biomedical engineering. The position is based at the Department of Neurology with a focus on Neurocritical Care . The successful candidate will contribute to translational research covering the full patient journey: bedside monitoring in the neuro-intensive care unit, patient assessments, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and publication of results. The role also includes participation in scientific reporting, conferences, teaching activities, and supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s students. It is designed as a structured university assistant (PraeDoc researcher) post with comprehensive scientific training and close supervision. This is a three-year fixed-term position starting on 1 October 2026 and ending on 31 October 2029, with the possibility of extension. The job is advertised for 30–40 hours per week and carries a minimum salary of €3,776.10 gross per month for full-time employment (14 payments per year). The role is situated in Linz, Austria, at JKU’s campus environment and is part of a dynamic research setting with modern infrastructure and cross-institutional collaboration. Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a completed Diploma or Master’s degree in Human Medicine. Experience in direct patient care is required, and university teaching experience is an advantage. Strong German and English skills at C1 level in both languages are mandatory.
