University of Southern Denmark (SDU) is advertising a fully funded Postdoctoral Fellow position in Renaissance intellectual history and Byzantine–humanist knowledge transfer as part of the VELUX-funded project METHOD: A Digital Entangled Approach to European Intellectual History . The project is led by Prof. Aglae Pizzone and Assoc. Prof. Reka Forrai at SDU in Odense, Denmark. The successful candidate will investigate how early modern reformers such as Melanchthon, Sturm, and Ramus engaged with Byzantine conceptual vocabularies and how these ideas circulated in Eastern European reformed circles. The role combines traditional philology , classics , Byzantine studies , and Digital Humanities , including interdisciplinary digital network analysis. This is a 24-month postdoctoral appointment starting 1 January 2026, or soon after . A major expected output is a monograph , alongside collaboration on the project’s digital and historical research agenda. Applicants should have a strong research profile in intellectual history , classics , or Byzantine studies , and be prepared to work across humanities methods and digital approaches.
