Women in Nuclear Security Fellowship Opportunity – CRDF Global (Women in Nuclear Security and Nonproliferation)

CRDF Global is inviting applications for the Women in Nuclear Security Fellowship Opportunity , an eight-month fellowship designed to strengthen the role of women in nuclear security and nonproliferation . The program is implemented with support from Global Affairs Canada under the Weapons Threat Reduction Program and focuses on advancing implementation of UNSCR 1540 and broader women’s leadership in the field. The fellowship is open to female-identifying professionals, researchers, academics, regulators, operators, and other practitioners from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. Applicants must apply in pairs under a single application, preferably from the same country. Priority is given to pairs from the same country, and previous fellows are not eligible. Applicants must have prior experience in nuclear security or non-proliferation roles, be able to commit to the full program, and have professional English proficiency. Selected fellows will take part in a five-session webinar series in July 2026 covering project management, proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation, research and policy paper development, networking, fundraising, UNSCR 1540 implementation, open-source tools, geospatial analysis, and nuclear risk reduction. From July 2026 to February 2027, each pair will implement a joint mini-grant project aimed at strengthening networks among women in nuclear security and nonproliferation, promoting leadership and participation, and addressing barriers to inclusion. Projects may include mentorship programs, workshops, networking events, training sessions, institutional engagement initiatives, surveys, or other scalable interventions. Each pair of fellows will receive a grant of up to $8,000 USD to support project implementation. CRDF Global also fully funds travel, lodging, and local transportation for the capstone workshop in Vienna, Austria. The program concludes with a two-day in-person workshop in February 2027, where fellows present outcomes, share best practices, and engage in technical and policy discussions, including a visit to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Deadline: 31 May 2026. Applicants must submit the completed application, budget and narrative, and CVs for both applicants in PDF format by email. The email subject should follow the format [LAST NAME, FIRST NAME – WINS 2026].
