Runhua Zhang is recruiting fully funded PhD students to join the research group in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering (CEGE) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), a Carnegie R1 university in Boca Raton, Florida. The research program sits at the intersection of civil engineering , environmental science , materials science , computer science , and statistics , with topics including sustainable and resilient infrastructure systems, pavement and construction materials, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, infrastructure performance modeling and prediction, lifecycle-based sustainability and resilience assessment, and data-driven transportation infrastructure management. Preferred applicants should hold a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related field. Strong communication skills are expected, and prior research experience or publications in related areas are preferred. Skills in Python, MATLAB, machine learning, laboratory testing, or data analytics are especially desirable.
