PhD Opportunities in Musculoskeletal Modeling, Biomechanics, and Gait Rehabilitation at the University of Delaware

The Rehabilitation Modeling (ReModel) Laboratory at the University of Delaware is recruiting two PhD students to join a new research group led by Russell Johnson (incoming PI). The lab sits within the BIOMS (Biomechanics and Movement Science) PhD program , a cross-disciplinary environment connecting engineering, human movement science, and clinical practice. Research interests include musculoskeletal modeling , biomechanics , gait rehabilitation , and the development/application of computational tools to understand human movement and improve rehabilitation outcomes. The post highlights work with platforms and methods such as OpenSim , CAD , MATLAB , Python , and optimization . Eligibility: Applicants should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in kinesiology , engineering , physical therapy , or a related field. Prior experience with musculoskeletal modeling is strongly preferred. Start date: Spring 2027 (flexible).
