Research Assistant/PhD Student in Research Team No. 3 – Fiber-Optic Light Sources

Research Assistant/PhD Student in Research Team No. 3 – Fiber-Optic Light Sources at the University of Warsaw , Centre of Excellence for Structured Fiber Optics and Applications, is an early-stage research opportunity in physics/optics focused on fiber-optic light sources, photonics, and structured fiber optics. The successful candidate will prepare a doctoral dissertation in extramural mode under the supervision of prof. Ryszard Buczyński . The project work includes conducting research related to the project, numerical modelling, development of experimental setups, designing and carrying out experiments, publishing results, preparing technical reports, and cooperating with international partners. This is a full-time temporary position for up to 36 months , with employment not later than 31.12.2029 . The stated salary is PLN 164,000 gross/gross per year , including the 13th salary and possibly a seniority allowance. The opportunity is linked to the MAB FENG project “Centre of Excellence for Structured Fiber Optics and Applications” and is based in Warsaw, Poland . Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics, electronics, chemistry, materials engineering, or a related field; they must not hold a doctoral degree at the time of employment. Required competencies include basic knowledge of photonics-related research techniques, basic skills in modelling physical phenomena, and English at B2 level or higher. Additional desirable experience includes optics/photonics knowledge, LabView, Comsol, Ansys Optics, Matlab, and Python, plus readiness for experimental, technological, and numerical work.
