University of Exeter is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the QuIMS — Quantum Information with Mechanical Systems project, a collaborative effort exploring mechanical systems for quantum technologies. The role sits in the Quantum Systems and Nanomaterials group and focuses on physics , materials science , and nanofabrication . The successful candidate will design and fabricate nanoscale devices, including suspended structures, using electron-beam lithography , material transfer, deposition, and etching. You will help develop fabrication methods and work closely with experimental and theoretical colleagues to turn promising designs into reproducible devices. Applicants should have a background in physics , materials science , or engineering , plus hands-on cleanroom experience . Experience with suspended graphene or van der Waals heterostructures is especially valuable. This is a full-time, two-year postdoctoral position starting in December 2026 .
