The Fluid and Surface Group at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, led by Professor Shervin Bagheri, is inviting applications for a PhD position focused on uncovering the fundamental mechanisms that govern biofilm morphology and growth in laminar shear flows. The research will utilize a unique experimental flow platform and integrate continuum modeling of complex fluids with machine learning techniques. This interdisciplinary project sits at the intersection of fluid mechanics, surface science, and computational modeling, offering an exciting opportunity for candidates interested in both experimental and theoretical approaches. The group is part of KTH, one of Europe's leading technical universities, located in Sweden. The successful candidate will join a vibrant research environment and work closely with experts in fluid mechanics and related fields. The project is ideal for students with a strong background in physics, mechanical engineering, or related disciplines, and who are eager to develop skills in experimental methods, modeling, and data-driven analysis. Applicants should hold a relevant master's degree and demonstrate proficiency in English. Experience with experimental setups, continuum modeling, or machine learning is highly desirable. The position is expected to be fully funded, but candidates should refer to the official announcement for detailed funding information and application requirements. For more information and to apply, visit the official announcement linked in the post. The application process is managed through the KTH recruitment portal. Interested candidates are encouraged to prepare their application materials and submit them as instructed in the official call.
