University of Copenhagen is advertising a 24-month postdoctoral position in the research group of Biochemical Engineering at the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences . The project, called ULYSSES , focuses on biotechnology , synthetic biology , biochemical engineering , and yeast biosensors for early cancer detection . The research aims to develop a portable, non-invasive biosensor that can identify breast and prostate cancer signatures directly from urine samples. The work combines VOC profiling , engineered yeast systems, and artificial intelligence to translate biological olfactory recognition into an easy-to-use diagnostic platform with potential applications in personalized medicine and early screening. The position is hosted at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark , under the supervision of Prof. Sotirios Kampranis . The post includes research in biotechnology and synthetic biology and may also involve teaching and other duties. Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field such as Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Metabolic Engineering, or Biochemistry . Strong practical experience in yeast synthetic biology , genetic engineering , molecular cloning (Gibson, USER, or Golden Gate), strain construction, and cultivation/assay work is highly desired.
