PhD and Postdoc Positions in Integrated Photonics and Silicon Photonics at North Carolina State University

North Carolina State University’s Heterogeneously Integrated Photonics (HIP) Lab is recruiting for 1 PhD student and 1 postdoc in integrated photonics . The group, led by Prof. Stan Cheung in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, works on advanced photonics research with applications in communications, computing, and sensing. Research topics include silicon photonics , heterogeneous semiconductor integration, III-V/Si lasers and optical sources, non-volatile photonic devices and optical memory, high-speed modulators using novel materials, nano-photonic device design and fabrication, 3D photonic integrated circuits, and photonic accelerators. The lab also highlights broader interests in neuromorphic/quantum-inspired computation and energy-efficient hardware. Applicants should have a background in Electrical Engineering , Physics , Applied Physics , or related fields, with interest in photonics, optics, semiconductor devices, and experimental and/or computational research. The lab emphasizes hands-on work with state-of-the-art fabrication and characterization tools in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. To apply, interested candidates should email [email protected] with a CV and a brief statement of research interests. The post does not specify a deadline or funding package, but it clearly announces open doctoral and postdoctoral opportunities at NC State University.
