Postdoctoral Fellow in Health Economics at Heidelberg University

The position is aimed at an outstanding researcher with strong expertise in health economics and an interest in oral health , health financing , economic evaluation , and health systems . The successful candidate will contribute to collaborative research projects with academic partners and public health organisations at local, regional, and global levels, including work in Germany, the EU, and low-resource settings. The advertised research areas include economic evaluation of community-based interventions, experiments and quasi-experiments in health financing, and participatory methods to optimize health systems. Responsibilities include leading health economics research, supporting project management, publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, developing new research projects, contributing to third-party funding acquisition, and teaching plus supervision of doctoral students. The team also encourages applicants to develop their own research ideas aligned with the group’s interests. Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree in health economics or a related field, strong quantitative and coding skills (R, Stata, Python, or similar), and a strong publication record. Experience with quasi-experimental methods is a plus. Good English communication skills are required; German is an advantage. Employment is offered as a full-time or part-time position (50–100%) on a temporary 24-month contract with TV-L E13 remuneration and standard benefits.
