Postdoc - Targeting Allergic Hypersensitivity - Wymann Lab, University of Basel

The Department of Biomedicine at the University of Basel invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Wymann lab focused on allergic hypersensitivity, immunology, and metabolic signaling . The project sits at the intersection of basic and translational biomedical research, with a strong emphasis on understanding and targeting major stress- and lipid-kinase signaling pathways involved in allergy, chronic inflammation, and cancer. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team at the Department of Biomedicine in Basel, Switzerland, working alongside biologists, immunologists, and chemists. The research combines biochemical and cellular studies with mouse genetics , and includes interactions with chemists developing novel bioactive small molecules aimed at relevant signaling nodes. The project is designed to elucidate molecular intra- and extracellular mechanisms that regulate myeloid cell immune responses , with a translational goal of supporting future clinical applications. In addition to the main project, the position is scientifically connected to related research efforts on PI3K signaling in allergy, metabolic control, obesity, diabetes, and cancer, as well as the development and validation of novel chemical probes and degraders for dissecting disease mechanisms. This gives the postdoc an environment rich in collaborative, mechanistic, and drug-discovery-oriented science. Applicants should have a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biology, or a related life-science field . Strong experience in immunology, allergy, FACS/cell sorting, and mouse models is required. The post also requires a valid LTK module 1 (Swiss rodent course) or FELASA function A/C/D certificate with associated continuing education. A strong publication track record and/or patents are expected, together with excellent English and a research background suited to a R2-level postdoctoral role. The appointment is initially for one year , full-time at 42.5 hours per week , with salary determined by University of Basel regulations and the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The project is supported by Innosuisse and is intended to lead toward translational and clinical relevance.
