Postdoctoral Position in Computational Modelling of Vascular Aging and Biomechanics

Postdoctoral opportunity in computational modelling of vascular aging at Institut Mines-Télécom / Mines Saint-Étienne in Saint-Étienne, France (Lyon area). The position is hosted in the SAINBIOSE research unit (INSERM U1059), within a strong interdisciplinary environment connecting biomechanics, biomaterials, bioengineering, medicine, and cardiovascular research. The project is part of Prof. Stéphane Avril’s ERC Advanced Grant JuvenTwin , which aims to build multiscale digital twins of vascular aging and rejuvenation. The postdoctoral researcher will develop innovative computational models for vascular aging and related conditions, combining biomechanics , mechanobiology , computational mechanics , finite element modelling , physics-informed neural networks , machine learning , and growth and remodeling . The work involves realistic microstructures of arterial extracellular matrix, patient-specific data, embedded prestressed cells, and cell signalling network models. Eligibility highlights: PhD in mechanics, biomechanics, biomedical engineering, computational mechanics, or a related field; good knowledge of computational methods for mechanics and biomechanics; first experience developing computational models; interest in coding and multi-scale modelling. Junior applicants are accepted. Contract and funding: 18-month fixed-term postdoctoral contract. Remuneration is according to the candidate’s profile and Institut Mines-Télécom rules. This is a research job, not a scholarship. How to apply: Apply via the dedicated Recruitee portal before 2026-06-30 . The application form requests a CV, cover letter, and identity document. Interviews are expected to be online.
