REQUIMTE – Rede de Química e Tecnologia is recruiting one PhD holder Researcher for a temporary, full-time position in Food Chemistry under the project WASTE2TASTE – Sustainable approaches for transforming Agri-Food Waste into Flavourful Experiences . The work is aimed at developing plant-based ingredient formulations with improved sensory profiles and added functional properties, within a research environment focused on the transformation of agri-food waste into value-added, flavourful products. The position is based at FCUP in Porto, Portugal , and is associated with a non-fixed-term work contract. The project is funded by FEDER funds (COMPETE 2030) and national funds through FCT/MECI . The monthly remuneration is EUR 2,408.11 (level 33 of the Portuguese Single Salary Table). The call is open to national, foreign, and stateless candidates who hold a doctorate in Chemistry or related areas and have a scientific and professional CV suited to the research tasks. The position particularly values experience in the characterization and quantification of functional compounds such as polyphenols, proteins, and polysaccharides; flavour perception studies , especially astringency perception ; in vitro cell culture models that mimic the oral cavity; and advanced analytical and physicochemical methods including (ultra)-high-performance chromatography and fluorescence spectroscopy, as well as molecular biology tools such as SDS-PAGE. Selection is based on scientific and curricular evaluation, with emphasis on the coherence of the candidate’s CV, participation in research projects and student supervision, the quality of publications, and relevant hands-on experience in molecular/cellular assays and research leadership roles. Candidates reaching at least 50% in the assessed parameters are eligible, and interviews may be held for the best-ranked candidates within 10% of the top score.
