Senior Academic Staff Position in Mathematical Optimization (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor)

The University of Antwerp is advertising a full-time senior academic staff (ZAP) position in Mathematical Optimization within the Department of Mathematics and the Applied Mathematics research group. The successful candidate will develop, analyze, and implement optimization methods for contemporary scientific problems and industrial applications. An interest in financial and actuarial applications is considered an asset. The role combines education , research , and service : teaching optimization in the Bachelor and Master of Mathematics programmes, supervising students, building an independent research line, acquiring national and international funding, and supervising PhD students and postdoctoral researchers . This is a senior academic appointment that may be made at the level of assistant professor, associate professor, professor, or full professor , depending on experience and qualifications. Junior candidates are typically offered a five-year tenure-track assistant professorship leading to permanent associate professorship. The post includes an attractive starter package with a four-year PhD project and €15,000 in consumables . Eligibility highlights: PhD in Mathematics, Mathematical Engineering, Operational Research, or equivalent; several years of postdoctoral experience or equivalent; strong publication record in applied mathematics; international collaborations; proven success in obtaining research funding; and teaching experience at bachelor and master level. Non-Dutch speakers can initially teach in English and/or Dutch, with language support provided. Proficiency in Dutch and/or English at CEFR C1 is required, and non-Dutch speakers are expected to reach CEFR B2 Dutch within 5 years and CEFR C1 Dutch within 8 years.
