Postdoctoral Fellowship in Comparative Genomics, Population Genomics, Phylogenomics and Bioinformatics at Barcelona Supercomputing Center

Open postdoctoral fellowship opportunity at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) through the AuSpire programme . The position is BSC-PF1: Comparative Genomics and is aimed at outstanding postdoctoral researchers interested in developing a project in comparative genomics , population genomics , phylogenomics , and bioinformatics to understand the evolution, function, and interactions of microbial organisms. Projects should align with the group’s research lines, including: origin and early evolution of microbial eukaryotes; evolution of virulence, host adaptation, and antifungal resistance; microbiome-host interactions with special interest in the fungal component of the microbiome; phylogenomics, reticulate evolution, hybridization, and genome evolution; and development/application of computational approaches for large-scale genomic analyses. The fellowship offers a 3-year postdoctoral contract in Barcelona, access to the MareNostrum 5 supercomputer , and an international secondment of up to 12 months at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, in collaboration with Prof. Sonika Tyagi ’s group. This opportunity is especially relevant for researchers with a strong background in genomics , bioinformatics , microbial evolution , or related areas who want to develop an ambitious project in an international and highly collaborative environment. Application deadline: 7 September 2026.
