Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) in Leioa, Spain is recruiting a
Postdoctoral Researcher
for the
RELATE4NATURE
Horizon Europe project. The position is focused on
ecological-economic modelling
,
environmental valuation
,
biodiversity conservation
,
green energy transition
, and the integration of
nature’s diverse values
into decision-making.
The postdoc will work under the supervision of
Prof. Unai Pascual
and contribute to research on the interactions between climate, energy, biodiversity, agri-environmental policy, and social justice. The project aims to better reflect relational, instrumental, and intrinsic values of nature in public and private decisions, with applications in agriculture, energy development, urban and regional planning, and nature management.
Research tasks include critical literature reviews, development of ecological-economic models, quantitative and/or qualitative empirical analysis, and a case study in the Basque Country. The role also involves stakeholder engagement, interviews, surveys, focus groups, workshops, project management support, dissemination, and co-authoring peer-reviewed publications.
Applicants should hold a PhD in environmental or ecological economics or a related field such as political science, geography, environmental psychology, rural studies, or development studies. Strong quantitative/modelling skills (statistics, econometrics, GIS), qualitative research experience, publication record, fieldwork experience, teamwork, and excellent English are required. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Basque is desirable.
This is a
full-time fixed-term postdoctoral contract
for an initial period of
two years
, with a possible extension up to
44 months total
. The gross annual salary is
€27,040 to €34,320
depending on experience. The deadline is
