PhD opportunity at the Micro Nano Bio Engineering Lab, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (Pilani Campus) under the Wipro WIN PhD Fellowship Programme. The project, Smart Hydraulic Cylinder , focuses on MEMS/NEMS sensors and actuators, sensor modelling and simulation, microfabrication, sensor packaging, embedded electronics, IoT-enabled monitoring, experimental validation, and intelligent models for a next-generation hydraulic actuator. The work aims to integrate sensors, electronics, and intelligent monitoring for real-time measurement of position, velocity, force, and pressure, with applications in control, reliability, predictive maintenance, and industry-relevant prototyping. Eligible backgrounds: first-class Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, MEMS, Mechatronics, or closely related disciplines. Applicants with experience or strong interest in MEMS, NEMS, microfabrication, smart sensors, IoT, embedded systems, multiphysics modelling, instrumentation, or hydraulic systems are especially encouraged. Funding: full-time PhD scholar position for four years with a fellowship of ₹46,990 per month initially, increasing up to ₹1,16,000 depending on performance and programme norms.
