UNSW Sydney is recruiting for an ARC Discovery Project in Lunar Positioning, Navigation and Timing (Lunar PNT) . The opportunity spans two openings: a 3-year Postdoctoral Fellow in Lunar Positioning and Timing and a fully funded 3-year PhD scholarship for eligible candidates. The research sits at the intersection of positioning, navigation and timing (PNT/GNSS) , estimation , filtering , sensor fusion , spacecraft navigation , autonomous systems , and cislunar dynamics (desirable but not essential). The project is supervised by Andrew Dempster and Yang Y. , and is associated with the Australian Centre for Space Engineering Research (ACSER) and UNSW Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. Applicants are welcomed from space engineering , electrical engineering , robotics , applied mathematics , and related disciplines. The PhD scholarship includes a stipend at the current UNSW PhD scholarship rate of A$39,206 p.a. tax-free (2026 rate) plus tuition fee support for eligible candidates. The postdoctoral role is a 3-year appointment. Location: UNSW Sydney, Australia. Deadline: Postdoctoral applications close on 1 September 2026 .
