PhD and Postdoctoral Positions in Antennas, Electromagnetics, and AI-Driven Wireless Technologies at Nanyang Technological University

Yujie Zhang, Assistant Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, is recruiting highly motivated PhD students, Postdoctoral Fellows, Research Assistants, and Visiting Students to join his research group. The group focuses on next-generation antennas, electromagnetics, and AI-empowered wireless technologies, with research directions including reconfigurable and pixel antennas, 6G fluid antenna systems, AI-driven electromagnetic design and optimization, metasurfaces, intelligent EM wave control, MIMO antenna array design for 5G and beyond, RF energy harvesting, wireless power transfer, and RF sensing and imaging. The lab offers fully funded PhD positions for the August 2026 semester, as well as immediate openings for postdoctoral and research assistant roles. Visiting student opportunities are also available for short-term collaboration. Successful candidates will benefit from competitive salary, studentship support, access to advanced RF and AI facilities, and collaboration with world-leading researchers and industry partners in Singapore. The research environment is supportive and international. Applicants should have a background in electromagnetics, antennas, RF/microwave circuits, or wireless communication. Experience with wireless system prototyping (such as LoRa, Bluetooth, USRP) and AI for electromagnetic design, optimization, or sensing is highly valued. Skills in EM simulation tools (CST, HFSS, ADS) and/or experimental prototyping are preferred. Candidates should be motivated, creative, and passionate about hardware design. To apply, candidates should send their CV, academic transcripts, contact details of at least one referee, and a brief research statement to [email protected], using the specified email subject line. More information about the research group and opportunities can be found on the group’s website.
