Postdoctoral Researcher
opening in the area of
anaerobic digestion, composting, food waste valorization, biogas, and compostable packaging/PLA degradation
. The role is part of a collaborative, project-funded research effort with
Emirates Biotech
in the UAE.
The successful candidate will help develop, commission, operate, test, and optimize an integrated
AD + composting pilot system
for food waste containing certified compostable packaging materials. Research tasks include pilot-scale system development, experiments on mixed food waste and PLA/compostable packaging, measurement of biogas yield and methane content, assessment of process stability and digestate quality, composting and PLA disintegration studies, SOP and protocol development, data logging, technical reporting, and support for publications and project deliverables.
Eligibility highlights:
applicants should hold a PhD in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, Waste Management, Bioenergy, Renewable Energy, or a closely related field. Strong experience in anaerobic digestion, composting, organic waste valorization, biogas analysis, compostable materials, pilot-scale systems, or process optimization is preferred.
Funding and duration:
this is a project-funded postdoctoral appointment for up to
21 months
, subject to UAEU appointment procedures and project requirements.
