Mississippi State University’s ECE Department is recruiting for fully funded PhD positions in Power Electronics under Assistant Professor Zahra Saadatizadeh . The lab focuses on high-efficiency, high-power-density power electronics systems for next-generation energy and electrification applications. Research topics include the design and implementation of advanced power electronic converters and inverters , high-switching-frequency DC-DC converters , wide-bandgap semiconductor devices, magnetic component technologies (including planar transformers, inductors, and coupled inductors), and AI-enabled design optimization for improved performance, miniaturization, thermal efficiency, reliability, and intelligent workflows. Applicants should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree, with preference for candidates holding a master’s degree. A minimum 3.5/4.0 GPA is required. International applicants whose native language is not English must provide official English language proficiency results. The post also highlights that candidates should be motivated, curious, and willing to work in the lab on experimental prototyping, PCB design, and circuit simulation tools such as PLECS or LTspice.
