Multiple funded openings are available in the Biron Lab at the University of Florida for postdoctoral researchers , PhD students , and NSF-supported undergraduate students / research assistants. The lab is led by Assistant Professor Zoleikha A. Biron in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The research focus is at the intersection of machine learning , control theory , and cyber-physical systems , with topics including decentralized control design , optimization , fault detection and diagnostics , machine learning and AI for cybersecurity , physics-informed machine learning , safe reinforcement learning , and agentic AI / agentic systems . The lab also highlights work in intelligent transportation systems, smart power systems, renewable energy integration, and cyber-resilient systems. Preferred applicants should have a background in Electrical Engineering , Computer Science , Mathematics , optimization, control design, and/or machine learning.
