CRDF Global Women in Nuclear Security Fellowship 2026
About this scholarship
An eight-month fellowship by CRDF Global for female-identifying professionals in nuclear security and nonproliferation from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.
The CRDF Global Women in Nuclear Security Fellowship is an international professional fellowship designed to strengthen women’s leadership in nuclear security and nonproliferation. It is offered by CRDF Global and, according to recent programme postings, is implemented with support from Global Affairs Canada under the Weapons Threat Reduction Program.
This fellowship is aimed at female-identifying professionals, researchers, academics, regulators, operators, and other practitioners who already have experience in nuclear security or related nonproliferation work. The programme focuses on advancing professional capacity, collaboration, and leadership, including work connected to broader international security goals such as implementation of UNSCR 1540.
The fellowship typically runs for eight months. Applicants are required to apply in pairs under one application, preferably with both applicants from the same country. Selected pairs receive structured fellowship activities and a mini-grant of up to 8,000 USD per pair to implement a joint project. Programme support also includes fully funded travel, lodging, and local transportation for a Vienna capstone workshop.
Eligibility is focused on applicants who are citizens of countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. Some nationalities are specifically excluded, and applicants are expected to have professional English proficiency and be able to commit fully to the programme. Previous fellows are not eligible.
This is primarily a professional fellowship rather than a degree scholarship tied to a single university. Interested applicants should look for the official CRDF Global call for applications and prepare a joint application with their partner, highlighting their experience in nuclear security or nonproliferation, their proposed collaborative project, and their ability to participate in all fellowship components.
