About this position

DAAD is offering Study Scholarships for STEM disciplines for international students from developing and emerging countries who want to complete a Master’s degree in Germany.

This scholarship supports full-time, on-campus master’s study at a state or state-recognised university in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and engineering. Interdisciplinary programmes are eligible only if they have a clear STEM focus. The programme must be tuition-free, and study programmes with integrated stays outside Germany are excluded.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must have completed a first degree recognised in Germany (for example, a bachelor’s degree) by the application deadline. Applicants who already hold a master’s degree are not eligible. The scholarship is aimed at high-achieving students with strong academic records, relevant language skills, and a well-prepared study project.

Funding: monthly scholarship payments of 992 euros, insurance contributions, a travel allowance upon application, and an annual study allowance of 460 euros. Additional support may be available for rent, family members, disability/chronic illness-related extra costs, carbon offset reimbursement, and language learning support. DAAD also notes that tuition fees are not covered.

Duration and timing: funding lasts 10 to 24 months depending on the degree programme. Funding must begin in 2027, usually on 1 October 2027, or earlier if a German language course is taken before the study programme.

Application process: complete applications only are considered. Applicants should submit all mandatory documents through the DAAD scholarship database and may be invited to an interview after pre-selection. The selection process considers academic achievements, language skills, the quality of the study project, motivation, prospects, and extracurricular commitment.

Research/study areas: STEM, mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, engineering, and interdisciplinary STEM-focused master’s programmes in Germany.
