EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships

EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships are open for internationally mobile postdoctoral researchers in the life sciences who are planning their next research step in Europe or beyond.

The fellowship supports excellent postdoctoral researchers for up to two years and is designed to strengthen scientific development, mobility, and access to the EMBO research community.

Funding includes salary or stipend, a relocation allowance, support for fellows with children, access to an EMBO Laboratory Leadership course, and membership in the global network of EMBO Fellows.

Eligibility highlights include international mobility and postdoctoral status in the life sciences. EMBO also states that a first-author refereed preprint can be considered equivalent to a first-author publication if it meets the programme guidelines.

Applications are accepted throughout the year. The next hard deadline is Friday, 10 July 2026 at 14:00 CEST. Starting in 2026, the Spring round deadline will be the fourth Friday of January at 14:00 CET.
