About this position

Fully funded international PhD position for 3 years at Persian Gulf University (Iran) in collaboration with Luleå University of Technology (Sweden).

Research topic: Expedited simulation-based and CFD analysis of solar photocollectors for CO₂ photoreduction of industrial flue gas into methanol.

This interdisciplinary project focuses on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), simulation-based modeling, solar-assisted photocatalytic systems, carbon capture and utilization (CCU), renewable energy, and sustainable process engineering. The work will use ANSYS Fluent and other computational tools to model, optimize, and accelerate large-scale solar photoreactors for CO₂ photoreduction into methanol and other value-added chemicals.

Eligibility: Applicants should have an MSc degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Energy Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong interest or experience in CFD and numerical simulations is highly desirable.

Funding: Fully funded 3-year PhD with full tuition waiver, accommodation (dormitory), dining support, and a 6-month research visit to Sweden.

Supervisors: Dr. Ahmad Azari (Persian Gulf University, Iran) and Dr. Ali Valizadeh (Luleå University of Technology, Sweden).
