ISTA-Fellow

Fully funded postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) for researchers in Biology, Neuroscience, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Science.

This opportunity is open to applicants of all nationalities who already hold a PhD or are close to completing one by the start date. Fellows design their own research project and work within an ISTA research group with supervision from a senior professor. The fellowship is highly competitive and supports independent, curiosity-driven research in the natural sciences and related computational fields.

Funding: minimum gross salary of EUR 73,500 per year plus full social security coverage. Additional support includes on-campus housing, daycare, visa assistance, and access to advanced research infrastructure. There is no application fee.

Eligibility highlights: PhD or equivalent required by the deadline or shortly before the fellowship begins; the proposed project must fit ISTA’s research areas and match the expertise of the chosen supervisor; three referees are required, with at least two reference letters submitted by the deadline. Applicants must not have worked at ISTA before 2026-09-01.
