ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowship

Applications are open for the ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026-27 in Switzerland. This is a fully funded postdoctoral fellowship for outstanding researchers who want to conduct independent research at ETH Zurich, one of the world’s leading universities.

The fellowship is suitable for candidates with a completed PhD and a strong research profile. It supports research across a broad range of fields, including computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering, architecture, environmental sciences, technology, innovation, and social sciences. Applicants are expected to propose a strong and innovative research project and secure a suitable host professor at ETH Zurich.

Funding includes an annual salary of CHF 105,000, CHF 10,000 per year in research funding, travel and mobility allowance, and support for additional research-related expenses. The fellowship also provides access to world-class laboratories, research facilities, mentorship, and international collaboration opportunities in Switzerland.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must have completed their doctorate at an institution other than ETH Zurich or the University of Zurich; those awaiting defense may apply with official confirmation of expected completion. Applicants must not have lived, worked, or studied in Switzerland for 12 months or more during the three years before the deadline, and must not have spent more than six months at ETH Zurich or the University of Zurich for employment or study in the same period. At least one peer-reviewed publication is required.
