Intra-Africa Scholarships for Masters and PhD Mobility in Agriculture, Engineering, ICT, and Environment European Education and Culture Executive Agency (Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme) in South Africa

The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, supported by the European Union, offers scholarship opportunities for African students, trainees, and university staff to pursue Master and Doctoral degrees or participate in academic mobility across the African continent. The program aims to foster international learning, capacity building, and collaboration among African higher education institutions. Scholarships are available for a wide range of disciplines, with a primary focus on agriculture, engineering, information and communication technologies (ICT), environment, and climate change.

Eligible applicants must be nationals and residents of an African country and either currently enrolled in or graduates of an African higher education institution. The scheme supports both short-term and full-program mobility for Master and PhD students, as well as traineeships and staff exchanges. Traineeship opportunities are available for students enrolled in Bachelor, Master, or PhD programs at participating institutions, allowing them to gain experience in a different African country. Staff mobility is open to academic, administrative, and technical staff for activities such as teaching, research, training, and curriculum development.

The scholarship covers a living allowance, insurance, travel and visa expenses, participation costs (including tuition and registration fees), and may also contribute to research expenses. Additional support is available for scholarship holders with disabilities. Thematic areas of study include agriculture, biodiversity, environment, climate change, digital transformation, STEM, and more, with each consortium offering specific programs and opportunities.
