About this position

Maria Reiche Postdoctoral Fellowships at TU Dresden support excellent female postdoctoral researchers who want to strengthen their independent research profile and prepare a strong third-party funded research proposal for an academic career. The fellowship is designed for researchers aiming toward a professorship and supports the transition from postdoc to independent researcher.

The fellowship is hosted by the Graduate Academy at TU Dresden in Germany. It is a full-time scholarship for up to 24 months and is intended to help applicants develop a unique scientific profile, refine a project idea, and submit an external funding proposal such as a DFG Emmy Noether Program, ERC Starting Grant, or DFG Heisenberg Program.

Funding includes a monthly scholarship of €2,670, a possible family allowance of €400 for the first child and €100 for each additional child, plus workplace/basic equipment support of up to €2,500. The fellowship is not an employment relationship and does not include health insurance, accident insurance, or third-party liability insurance.

Eligibility: female early career researchers who completed their doctorate no longer than six years ago. The six-year period is counted up to the month before the requested start of funding, with maternity and parental leave counted toward the six years. Applicants must have a hosting professorship at TU Dresden that provides a recommendation and confirms the necessary framework conditions for the project.

Application requirements include a project description of up to 4 pages covering the main topic and aims, work program, time/work plan, personal assessment of competences, and a justification for choosing Dresden/TU Dresden. A letter of recommendation from the hosting professorship is required, and a letter of reference from another university professor may be needed. Membership in the Graduate Academy is not required at the time of application.

Deadline: 2026-09-30. Applications must be submitted as a single digital PDF file by email to the Graduate Academy. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
