About this position

Scholarship opportunity for MSc and PhD candidates in Africa under the EU-funded SHE-CREEDS project: Strengthening Higher Education for Climate-Responsive Agriculture, Energy-Efficient Technologies and Digital Innovation in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The project is hosted at Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in collaboration with four other African partner institutions. For Cohort 1, the call offers 6 PhD positions and 10 MSc positions across 5 African host universities.

Research themes include climate-responsive agriculture, agro-ecology, smart irrigation, food security, land management, renewable energy, green manufacturing, solar systems, digitalisation, and innovation for Africa’s higher education and sustainability.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must be Sub-Saharan African nationals and residents. MSc applicants need a BSc with Upper Second Class or better and must be 30 or younger. PhD applicants must hold an MSc degree and be 35 or younger. Mobility must be to a different African country, and applicants must not have received a prior EU/MOBAF scholarship for the same period. Female applicants are strongly encouraged.

Funding: monthly stipend up to EUR 890 for MSc and up to EUR 1,230 for PhD.
