About this position

PhD and integrated PhD (MS-PhD) positions are available in the Computational Chemistry Lab in the Department of Chemistry at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), South Korea.

The group focuses on the structure and dynamics of water and aqueous solutions, using molecular dynamics simulations, density functional theory (DFT), and graph theory. The project theme includes molecular aggregation behavior and its effect on water structure and dynamics in solution. The exact topic will be matched to the successful candidate’s interests and experience.

Applicants should have an excellent Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in chemistry, interdisciplinary natural sciences, physics, or a related field. Strong English ability, autonomous learning ability, creativity, ambition, and motivation are expected. Programming skills and strong knowledge of physical chemistry and molecular dynamics simulations are advantageous.

The position offers a full scholarship for all students at GIST, with additional support for conference participation and related research activities. Applications are accepted until the position is filled. Interested candidates should email a single PDF application package to Prof. Jun-Ho Choi, including a cover letter, CV, diplomas, research experience/interests, motivation, and publication list if available.
