PhD Scholarship

Simon Fraser University’s Sustainable Optoelectronics Research Group, led by Associate Professor Vincenzo Pecunia, is recruiting for research opportunities in organic solar cells, wide-bandgap perovskites, and tandem photovoltaics. The post highlights a PhD scholarship opportunity focused on printable organic solar cells for agrivoltaics (clean energy plus sustainable food production), as well as additional PhD and postdoctoral openings in printable infrared photodetectors and wide-bandgap perovskites.

Research themes include optoelectronics, materials science, physics, chemistry, nanotechnology, and sustainable energy engineering. The group works on printable semiconductors, organic semiconductors, quantum dots, perovskite photovoltaics, device fabrication, materials/device characterization, and scalable low-cost solar technologies.

Eligibility for the PhD scholarship includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in a relevant field, strong laboratory experience, a GPA of 80% or higher, excellent English, compliance with Simon Fraser University graduate admission requirements, and eligibility for a Canadian study permit if needed. The postdoctoral role requires a PhD in a related discipline, a strong publication record, and relevant perovskite photovoltaics experience.
