Candidates should normally hold at least a first-class or upper second-class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline; some research degrees may require a Masters degree. Applicants must not already hold a PhD or be currently registered for one. Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds while receiving the scholarship. If English is not the first language, evidence of the University's minimum English language requirement is needed; for most research postgraduate study this is IELTS 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component, and for the School of Computer Science IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in reading, listening and speaking.
