About this position
Copenhagen Business School (CBS), through CBS LAW in the Department of Business Humanities and Law, is inviting applications for two fully salaried PhD scholarships in law. The call is open to a wide range of topics within CBS LAW’s research profile, with suggested areas including commercial disputes (litigation, arbitration, mediation), EU law, international law, VAT and tax law, and interdisciplinary work on supply chain liability, business resilience, and contracting under uncertainty.
The PhD programme is three years long and is anchored in CBS LAW, where research focuses on business law from societal and commercial perspectives and on the interplay between international, EU, and national law. The programme is highly international and includes research training, participation in conferences, and a visiting period at another research institution. Teaching duties are part of the scholarship, and Danish teaching ability is considered an advantage because many law courses are taught in Danish.
Funding: The positions are fully salaried. The monthly salary is approximately DKK 29,691.75 to DKK 36,180 depending on seniority, plus pension contributions. Tuition fees, office space, and course and travel costs are included according to CBS agreement.
Eligibility highlights: Applicants should have a master’s degree (or equivalent), a strong academic record, a master’s thesis grade of 10 or equivalent on the Danish scale, and a weighted GPA meeting CBS requirements or top-40% documentation. A relevant background in law, commercial law, auditing, or a closely related field is expected, along with high-level academic English. The master’s degree must be completed before the PhD starts.
Application: Submit a five-page project description with an original research question, theoretical framework, method, empirical material, and a three-year work plan, together with the required supporting documents. The deadline is 15 July 2026.
Contact: For further information, contact Professor Peter Koerver Schmidt at [email protected]. Apply via the online link provided in the post.
