The position is part of the CBS PhD School and includes research training, PhD courses, international conference participation, and a research stay at another institution as a visiting PhD student. CBS describes the scholarship as fully salaried, with tuition fees covered and additional support for office space, course costs, and travel costs according to CBS agreements. The position also includes teaching obligations corresponding to 416 work hours over the three-year period.
Applicants should have a strong academic record and a social science background. Required qualifications include a completed 3+2 degree structure (bachelor’s plus master’s), a strong master’s thesis grade, and a high weighted GPA under the Danish grading scale or top-class standing. Strong academic English is required. The application must include a five-page project description with an original research question, theoretical framework, method, empirical material, expected contribution, and a three-year work plan, along with a motivation letter, CV, transcripts, diplomas, and a sample of written work in English.

Applicants must have completed a two-year (120 ECTS) master's degree and a three-year (180 ECTS) bachelor's degree corresponding to the 3+2 Bologna process. The master's thesis must have received at least grade 10 or equivalent on the Danish 7-point scale. Candidates must have a weighted GPA of at least 8.2 on the Danish 7-point scale for the bachelor's and master's degrees combined, or alternatively at least 9.5 for the master's degree alone; if this is not met, proof of being in the top 40% of the class is accepted. Applicants must have an educational background in the social sciences, have completed the master's programme before starting the PhD, and have high-level academic English skills in writing and speaking. The department gives priority to applicants with high grades; GRE or GMAT scores may be included if available.
