About this position

Current research projects include mechanochemical synthesis of single-atom catalysts, coatings for increased nutrient use efficiency in fertilizers, biocatalysis for complex molecule synthesis, and development of novel biocatalysts for chemoenzymatic synthesis of complex small molecules. These projects span the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences, offering interdisciplinary training and real-world industry engagement. Successful applicants will work alongside leading academics and industry partners, gaining access to world-class facilities and collaborative research environments. The scholarship is open to candidates who meet Monash University's PhD admission criteria and demonstrate excellent research capability. Applicants should hold a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Physics, or a related area, and possess a research-based Honours or Masters degree (or equivalent). Strong communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and a record of publishing research in scientific journals are preferred. English-language proficiency is required, and interviews will be conducted in English, either in person or via Zoom.

Applicants who already hold a PhD are not eligible. Scholarship holders must be enrolled full-time and on campus. The expected enrolment date is by September 2026, with some flexibility.
