Research Training Program

Western Sydney University is advertising a PhD scholarship in low-carbon calcined clay concrete for additive manufacturing, including 3D concrete printing. The project sits within the ARC Research Hub for Infrastructure Net Zero and is designed for a highly motivated candidate interested in sustainable construction materials and next-generation manufacturing methods.

The research will investigate sustainable cementitious binders, printability, rheology, structural build-up, and durability of 3D-printed concrete materials. This is a strong fit for students with interests in civil engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, and related areas of low-carbon construction.

The scholarship is open to both domestic and international applicants. Funding includes a tax-free stipend of AUD 36,000 per year for up to 3 years, plus an RTP tuition fee offset and additional research support funding. Applicants may need to provide English language test results such as IELTS or PTE if they do not already meet the university’s enrolment requirements.
