PhD Scholarship

WAVES (Well-being Physical Activity Equity and Sleep) Research Group at Curtin University is advertising six funded PhD scholarship opportunities for Expressions of Interest.

The projects are based in the Faculty of Health Sciences and span a strong interdisciplinary mix of physical activity, wearables, movement science, cardiometabolic health, health behaviour change, obesity support, menopause-related cardiovascular prevention, hospital activity interventions, and pharmacy practice.

Project themes include: physical activity support for substance use recovery; tailoring 24-hour movement recommendations for cardiometabolic conditions; behavioural support for men on GLP-1 treatment; reducing sedentary time for older hospital patients; protecting heart health through the menopause transition; and training pharmacists to support physical activity.

Supervisors named in the post include Prof Andrew Maiorana, Dr Sascha Thal, Dr Bingyan Pang, Dr Matthew McDonald, A/Prof Kristie Harper, A/Prof Joanne McVeigh, and Dr Hamsini Sivaramakrishnan.

Eligibility differs by project: some are domestic only, while others are open to domestic and international applicants. The post does not specify stipend amount or tuition coverage, but it clearly states that the projects are funded.
